Charitable Giving

We Belong to Something Beautiful Chapter 2 and Beyond.
With the launch of the second chapter of the Belong campaign, which furthers our commitment to creating a space where everyone feels like they belong, Sephora will be donating $1 million in 2019 to organizations that fight for racial justice and equality across the country and create opportunities that empower underserved communities.

Sephora is contributing $150,000 each to five national organizations:

The Center for Urban Families will use the funds to support its comprehensive All In strategy that accelerates social/economic opportunity and advocates for policies that promote equality and racial justice.

National CARES Mentoring Movement will use the funding to implement its blueprint for community recovery, THE RISING: ELEVATING EDUCATION, EXPECTATIONS AND SELF-ESTEEM program, in communities across the country.

National Black Justice Coalition will use the funds to fight racism, homophobia and LGBTQ/SGL bias and stigma at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, to host the inaugural convening of the Youth & Young Adult Advisory Committee, and to support their Black Trans Advisory Council.

The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation will use the donation to support its annual Black Women’s Roundtable (BWR), its signature women and girls empowerment program.  Specifically, it will support the BWR Justice Project to host a “Sisters Can We Talk” racial justice intergenerational national tour series, launch its 2019 SiSTAR Power Women’s Empowerment Project in November, and host its annual Women of Power National Summit in 2020.

The NAACP will use the funds to support its ACT-SO program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.

A total of $200,000 will be donated to up to 44 organizations, located in each of our 44 retail districts throughout the country, that fight for equality and racial justice at a local level. The organizations will be nominated by the store teams within those communities.

Additionally, Sephora will collaborate with Values Partnerships, a leading social impact agency, and a council of racial justice and equality leaders to commission a broad-based research study on the state of bias in retail with a specific focus on the experience of people of color. Insights will lead to recommendations that advance inclusivity and improve the retail experience for all.

A Look Back at Chapter 1

In June, we introduced the first chapter of the Belong campaign, which focused on Gender Inclusivity. As part of our commitment expressed in our Manifesto, and in honor of PRIDE month, we launched our first-ever “SEPHORA <3s PRIDE” collection that featured products celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

Facilitated by the Tides Foundation, $1 for each product sold in the collection during the month of June was donated to 12 nonprofit organizations furthering LGBTQ+ rights and justice.

Together Fund

The Sephora Stands Together Fund makes it possible through gifts of time or money to provide short-term financial help to Sephora employees in times of emergency or financial hardship.

Grants

Through a philanthropic partnership with Tides Foundation, a public charity and nonprofit accelerator dedicated to building a world of shared prosperity and social justice, Sephora provides financial support to non-profit organizations that align with our commitment to people, planet, and community.

Matching Gifts

Sephora encourages employees to give to the causes they care about by matching dollars to time volunteered and money given to eligible organizations.

Sephora volunteers

For every hour a Sephora employee volunteers at an eligible nonprofit organization, we donate $10 to an eligible charity of their choice. Together we’re making a more beautiful world.

Sephora employees take action to support our planet by volunteering at a clean-up in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

Sephora employees assemble gifts for clients of Project Glimmer.

Sephora employees volunteer at a beach cleanup with the REN Clean Skincare brand and the Surfrider Foundation.

Sephora employees participate together in causes they care about like the Honolulu AIDS Walk.

Product donation

Sephora has supported over 200,000 women and girls with product donations that are turned into meaningful gifts through partnership with Project Glimmer, an organization that inspires girls and women to believe in themselves by letting them know their community cares. Programs like Work Your Magic: A Day of Empowerment connects at-risk girls and women with resources that help build confidence, inner beauty, and professional skills.
